Don’t do business with friendships on the line. Just tell him you are unsure about your financial plans just yet. You cannot get the Mustang inspected with a check engine light on, that will be the first thing that has to be fixed and also the tires. If you are serious about buying it, have him and yourself to take the car to Auto Zone and hook the ODB2 system up to the reader they have and check the codes. The codes can lead you in the right direction as to what is needing to be done to get the engine right again. Look through the rims and check out the disks on each wheel brake system, if there are alot of grooves and such the brakes are shot. That could get a little costly as you will want to change the pads and disks, if they are smooth then you can get by with just pads…
